Q: Does Teakworks4U ship internationally?
A: Absolutely. We are happy to ship our quality teak products to our overseas customers. Just call or email us and we will be happy to assist you with your order.

Q: I'd love to order one of your custom shower mats, but my shower floor slopes down to the drain. Will my shower mat be stable and secure?
A: Absolutely.
Our mats rest on at least three wooden "feet" that run the width of the mat. These feet have a premium non-slip rubber strip bonded to them that compresses and grips the shower floor in six spots, creating a safe, comfortable, stable place to stand, while still allowing water to drain effectively. Q: Does Teakworks4U sell wholesale?
A: Although many companies use that tricky phrase "wholesale to the public," we at Teakworks4U actually offer wholesale pricing to both consumers and corporate clients alike. Many retail stores, interior design firms, spas and fitness centers feature Teakworks4U products. Whether you are a retail chain or just an individual decorating your home, our wholesale pricing is the same for everyone.

Q: How can TeakWorks4U afford to offer genuine Burmese teak at such affordable prices?
A: We import directly from the source by container load, which allows us to negotiate the best possible price. In addition, we do all our milling, assembly and finishing here at our facility in Winona, Minnesota. These factors combine to allow us to offer quality teak products to the consumer at true wholesale prices.

Q: What's the difference between a stock mat and a custom mat?
A: Stock mats are built to preselected sizes that have been most requested by our customer. Stock mats are great for poolside or bathroom drying-off areas and make a great, germ-free alternative to traditional cloth bath mats. Custom mats are for customers who want a mat built specifically to fit the inside of their shower, or any other space where they desire the comfort, warmth and beauty of teak. Custom mats can be built any size, and can conform to odd shapes and curves.

Q: How does the water drain off the mat?
A: Actually the water drains right through the mat. Our mats are built with 1/8-inch spaces between the slats so that water drains right through to the shower drain. In addition, the legs of the mat are situated so as not to interfere with drainage.

Q: Will the mat slide around or move on the wet shower floor?
A: Absolutely not. The bottom of each leg feature a germ-free rubber strip permanently bonded to it, to keep the mat stable and safe while you shower.

Q: Will the mat stain my marble or tile shower flooor or walls?
A: No. One of the great things about teak is that its rich color does not have to be enhanced with dyes or stains, so you get a great-looking mat that will not discolor your fine shower surfaces in any way.

Q: Do I have to worry about mold or mildew with my in-shower mat?
A: Not at all. Teak is renowned worldwide for its resistance to mold, mildew and rot. It is also germ-free and all our mats are sanded smooth for maximum comfort against your feet.

Q: Are custom mats only for the inside of the shower?
A: We have customers who order custom mats for other spaces, too. Some discrimating customers are so fond of our teak products they have ordered complete custom-built bathroom floors. We like to think that when it comes to our custom-built mats, your imagination is the limit!

Q: What is the difference between finished and unfinished?
A: Deciding how you want your teak product finished is really only an asthetic issue. Because of the extraordinary qualities of our teak and its high natural oil content, it's not necessary to finish any of our products. The finished look brings out more of the teak's natural beauty and creates a darker tone to the wood. Unfinished teak remains in its natural state, which some people prefer. Either way, our products are beautiful and will provide a lifetime of stunning natural beauty to your home.

Q: How do I maintain my teak product?
A: Our teak is as close to maintenence free as you can get. It will not mold or mildew and will maintain its beauty whether finished or uinfinished. To maintain the finished look is no different then polishing your wood furniture. Every few months simply apply teak oil (available at any hardware store) to the surface of your product with a cloth. This process takes only a few minutes and will renew the finish on your teak product. Of course, at any time you can choose to let the teak age naturally. In time the teak oil will dissipate and the teak's natural oil content will continue to ward off mold and mildew.

Q: How do I clean my teak product?
A: Cleaning Burmese teak is very simple. Use a mild solution of soap and water (for heavily soiled teak a mild solution of bleach and water) simply apply to the surface of the product and wipe or scrub off. This will remove the surface dirt and restore the teak to its natural beauty.

This is an example of one of our custom-built in-shower mats. Each slat is slightly spaced (1/8" apart) to allow water to drain through and the feet are rubber-coated to keep the mat level and steady. The water drains right through to the shower drain below and the mat will never mold or mildew. This style mat is available in any size or shape by clicking on our custom-built mats section.

We use only 100% U.S.-certified legal, reclaimed, sustainable teak -- a replacement tree is planted 20 years before a tree we harvest is cut. All of our teak is FEQ (First European Quality) graded, the finest and the most expensive grade in the world. We import our teak from reputable suppliers bordering Burma (Myanmar), hence the name Burmese teak. Our suppliers observe all international laws regarding labor and conservation.
