What is TEAK?

TEAK is a tall deciduous tree (Tectona Grandis) of the family Verbenaceae (Verbena family), native to India and Malaysia but now widely cultivated in other tropical areas, such as Myanmar (Burma). Naturally occuring teak grows to heights of 100 feet with trunk diameters of 12 feet or more over the course of its 300-year lifespan.

TEAK is used in the manufacture of outdoor furniture, boat decks and other articles where weather resistance is desired. The wood is easily worked and has natural oils that make it suitable for use in exposed locations where it is durable even when not treated with oil or varnish. TEAK is also prized for it's dense grain, beauty and strength.

We use only 100% US certified legal, reclaimed, sustainable teak. A replacement tree is planted 20 years before a tree we harvest is cut. All of our teak is FEQ (First European Quality) graded, the finest and most expensive in the world. We import our teak only from reputable suppliers bordering Myanmar (Burma), which is where the name Burmese Teak originates. Our supplier is FCS Acredited (Forest Stewardship Council) and holds certification from the SCS Forest Conservation Program.
