When placing a wooden wall backing into place we recommend using a 2 x 12 to ensure that you'd have enough room to mount both the bracket as well as the slide box into wooden material. There is only 3" different from the top of the circle flanges to where the top of the slide box needs to be mounted so mounting the 2 x 12 backing to reach a 20" seat height would need to be 22" high and you'd have plenty of material.
